Training Videos
Notes
- A – – – – y, this is the drill we did last time. The reason I sped up the boat and shortened the rope was to make the wake smaller, in an attempt to start building confidence.
- IMO, there is no way to make substantial progress in slalom until you can cross the wakes with confidence and authority, especially during the off-side pull (lean).
- This is a great drill, best done in open water — for obvious reasons.
Notes
- During his run at the beginning, note how he advances his ski, so that it leads him into the preturn.
- (Timeline 5:30) Mike describes the process of the ski swinging underneath the body, to what I call the outside track, or arc. Also note how the inside arm ends up being bent and close to the body, so that the point of rotation is mid-body. The reach comes immediately thereafter.
Notes
- Again, note how Bob starts advancing his ski coming into the first wake.
- Several other concepts during the video.
Notes
- (Timeline 4:15) Mike gets into a discussion about the edge change and continuous outbound direction. Further discussion as well as watching the video, one can understand how slalom is simply one big turn connected to another — with the edge change being the connecting point. D – – – d, this is exactly what you mentioned the other day.
- (Timeline 5:15 – 6:00) A whole lot going on here: arms straight, arms bent, unweighting the ski, ski swinging underneath, etc.
